Frequently Asked Questions

What is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy, sometimes called Naturopathic Medicine, is a system of alternative medicine based on the theory that dis-ease can be prevented and treated successfully without the use of pharmaceutical drugs. In the United States, Naturopathy is practiced by naturopathic medical physicians, traditional naturopath doctors, and other health care providers (i.e., functional medicine doctors, osteopaths, chiropractors, nutritionists, herbalists).

How does Naturopathy treat clients?

Naturopathy uses a variety of approaches to wellness. Specific to Natural Health Solutions 365, Dr. Campbell's therapeutic approaches may include:

  • Lifestyle modifications (i.e., diet, exercise, sleep patterns, stress reduction)

  • Dietary supplements (i.e., vitamins, minerals, probiotics, herbs, homeopathic remedies)

  • Detoxification (i.e., colon & digestive, kidneys, liver)

  • Heavy metal cleansing

  • Candida therapy

  • Parasitic treatment

  • Weight loss program

  • Hormonal adjustments

  • Autoimmune care

  • Psychotherapy and counseling

What type of training does a Naturopathic Doctor receive?

Education and licensing differ for the different types of naturopathic practitioners:

  • Naturopathic Medical Doctor: Generally completing a 4-year graduate level program at one of the North American naturopathic medical schools, Naturopathic Medical Doctors in the United States are trained medically with a pathway to naturopathy. They usually hold a medical license and may diagnose and prescribe pharmaceutical medicines.

  • Traditional Naturopathic Doctor: Also known as Holistic Health Practitioner or Holistic Health Professional, the Traditional Naturopathic Doctor receives alternative medicine training wholly in holistic modalities or natural remedies, without modern medicine as their main pursuit. Also a graduate level program, training programs for Traditional Naturopathic Doctor vary in length and content though usually require a minimum of 1,100 hours of study and several hundred to thousands more in clinical hours. Studies include anatomy and physiology; blood chemistry; dis-ease prevention and remedies; nutrition and diet; herbal remedies; reflexology; and much more. Traditional Naturopathic Doctors are not eligible for medical licenses and do not prescribe pharmaceutical medicines. Each state is regulated differently for this profession. Dr. Campbell is a Traditional Naturopathic Doctor, and Natural Health Solutions 365 is located in the state of North Carolina by which there is no regulation for this occupation (simply because Traditional Naturopathic Doctors do not diagnose or prescribe pharmaceuticals). Dr. Campbell is board certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners

  • Other Naturopathic Care Providers: Other professionals such as functional medicine doctors, osteopaths, chiropractors, and nutritionists may pursue additional training as Naturopathic Care Providers and provide such care.
